Mission

The Curators' Committee serves curators of different disciplines in the essential fields of collections research, care, and exhibition, and participates in the American Association of Museums Annual Meeting program sessions that involve museum collection, acquisition, preservation and interpretation.

Activities
  • Advocates for curators at the national level
  • Represents the needs of curators within AAM
  • Promotes the development of program sessions for the AAM Annual Meeting in the areas of acquisition, conservation, research, interpretation, collaboration, de-accessioning, and ethics
  • Co-sponsors and annual exhibition competition (begun by the Curators' Committee in 1989) that honors the best new exhibitions in two budget categories
  • Publishes the quarterly newsletter CURCOM UPDATE informing members about current issues and activities of concern to curators

Membership Information

Membership in the Curators' Committee is limited to existing members of the American Association of Museums.
