The competition is the joint project of the following AAM Standing Professional Committees (SPCs): Curators Committee (CURCOM),
the National Association for Museum Exhibition (NAME), the Committee on Audience Research and Evaluation(CARE) and the Education Committee (EdCom). The deadline is January 9, 2009.
Twenty-First Annual Excellence in Exhibition Competition Entry Form
The winners of the competition will be announced at the AAM 2009 Annual Conference in Philadelphia, April 30-May 4, 2009. The winners will also be featured in the fall issue of Museum News. If you have questions, please feel free to contact: R. Maria Marable_Bunch. Exhibition Competition Coordinator. 202-228-2397. mmbunch@aoc.gov
The Twentieth Annual Excellence in Exhibition Competition drew 33 highly competitive entries from 26 U.S. and international science, history, art and children’s museums. This was the largest number of entries ever to the competition, which recognizes outstanding practices and achievement in the exhibition format from all museums.
The judges awarded four honorable mentions for exemplary exhibition design projects that push the content or design approach beyond what has been done in the past. We invite all museums to enter the 2009 Excellence in Exhibition competition and share their exhibition’s strengths and the lessons learned to inspire others to test the limits of creativity in exhibition design and content.
